Description
This image shows the cover page and an accompanying image of a narrative titled “Love made a fool of me” within this specific issue of True Confessions. The top of the cover page shows a “story file” of Rita G., the author of the story, as well as an excerpt from her letter to the editors of the magazine. It relates an argument between Rita and her mother which culminates in Rita asking, “‘why should a fellow want to take me out? Just look at me! I’m so fat I even hate myself. . . .’” The image on the opposite page shows two women meant to symbolize Rita and her mother in conversation. Rita looks shameful and saddened, and the mother looks concerned and even slightly accusative.
