Superlatives abound in this advertisement for Max Factor’s Creme Puff foundation: It is the “creamiest” and the “sheerest”; it is “fresh, light, so smooth,” and “luscious.” Creme Puff is “the make-up that keeps its promise” to make the purchaser “lovelier the instant [it] kisses [her] skin.” As with other cosmetics ads, this one features an attractive, fashionably adorned model whose “loveliness” the reader can hope to achieve if she buys Crème Puff foundation.
